Advanced central air conditioning HVAC systems are used to cool all of Marcus Hiles’ Fort Worth company’s properties. HVACs use substantially less energy than traditional thermal comfort units, and TechShield® adds an extra layer of protection from the summer heat. The radiant barrier is a reflective material mounted to the roof’s sheathing to redirect the sun’s intense rays, blocking as much as 97 percent of the produced warmth from ever entering the home. “That reduces the temperature in the attic by up to 30 degrees – which makes it cooler in the rooms below,” notes Hiles. The barrier’s post-lamination foil incising process uses VaporVents™ technology, allowing its panels to fight moisture accumulation and adding to the durability over its more than 20-year lifespan. As this layer of shielding keeps attic temperatures down, it combats humidity within the roofing, ultimately requiring less air conditioning throughout the home, thereby utilizing less electricity.
